Tuan H. Pham, MD, PhD, FACS, FAAP is Board Certified in Pediatric Surgery and General Surgery. He holds Bachelor degrees, magna cum laude, in Biology and Electrical and Computer Engineering, from the University of California at Irvine (UCI), where he also earned his Doctor of Medicine with honors. At the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota, he completed a General Surgery Residency, and went on to complete a Fellowship in Pediatric General Surgery at the British Columbia Children’s Hospital in Vancouver, Canada.
Dr. Pham holds a doctorate degree from UCI in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Research for his dissertation, “Using diffuse near-infrared light for medical diagnostics” was performed through a Fulbright Fellowship at the Lund Institute of Technology in Sweden. Other research awards and engineering fellowships include a Medical Scientist Training Fellowship through the National Institute of Health (NIH), a Whitaker Biomedical Engineering Graduate Fellowship and two Children and Family research awards.
Dr. Pham specializes in neonatal surgery and pediatric oncology. He has extensive experience in minimally invasive and robotic surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and American Academy of Pediatrics, and a member of the American Pediatric Surgeons Association, SAGES, Optical Society of America, and Engineering in Medicine and Biology. Dr. Pham also served as a member of a volunteer team in Uganda where he performed nearly 150 much needed pediatric hernia operations over the course of 10 days. To lift the spirits of his tiny patients and their worried siblings, he used another skill he’s acquired over the years: making balloon animals and hats.
Dr. Pham is conversant in Vietnamese.
